Calling all New England libertarians/conservatives...

My name is Megan Duffield and I am working my hardest to ensure that New England campuses are not covered with ONLY liberal thought.  I have been traveling around New England for 2 weeks now starting groups such as: GOA at URI, Young Americans for Liberty at Fitchburg, Tufts libertarians, etc. Now I want to help you out on your campus.

E-mail me at any point in the day to express your ideas, organize a group, or learn more of what the Leadership Institute has to offer. meganyal@gmail.com or mduffield@campusreform.org

It is important that we take back the campuses here in the New England area!  If you are that leader or want to be, contact me ASAP and we will get a successful group started on your campus.

These are the states I'm working in: CT, RI, MA, NH, VT, ME.  Thanks!

Graduates Have Unrealistic Job Expectations

Many of the students I know that graduated this last Spring were confident that the market would, at worst, rebound by the end of this year. It's the natural cycle of the economy, they said. An article from the Charlotte Observer, today, reported that graduating students are refusing to take lower-paying jobs than hoped for:

Survey data found that only 45 percent of responding seniors who were offered jobs this year accepted them... “That tells me they haven't quite realized the extent of the market and that they're still waiting for the offer that matches their expectations,” [said Edwin Koc, the director of strategic and foundation research at NACE].

Another study, from Northeastern University, found that fewer than half of the nation's 4 million college graduates were working in jobs that required a college degree, down from 54 percent from last year. Read the article here.

Sotomayor? Really?

President Obama recently picked Sonia Sotomayor as his choice for the Supreme Court to replace Justice David Souter, who is retiring. Cato Institute Senior Fellow in Constitution Studies Ilya Shapiro wrote an editorial for CNN in which he questioned whether this appointment was truly based on merit. He writes:
In picking Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama has confirmed that identity politics matter to him more than merit.

The Relationship between Technology and Medical Costs

Freedom Watch May Receive TV Slot

From our friends at Campaign for Liberty:
Shelly from Judge Napolitano's FreedomWatch has announced that the show is being considered for airing on TV: You did it!! Thanks to your support, "Freedom Watch" with Judge Napolitano, Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, and more is FINALLY being considered for an open time slot on Fox News Channel. They'll make the decision soon, and we're up against some big name shows, so we're not quite there yet. We need one more concerted effort to: 1. Flood them with emails requesting the show and 2.
