YAL Wisconsin hosting Tom Woods January 26th

YAL Wisconsin is very excited to be hosting Dr. Thomas E. Woods at UW-Madison on Wednesday, January 26th.  This event is open to the public. Admission is free.  YAL Wisconsin will try to have this event videotaped and uploaded onto Youtube later for those not able to attend.

When:  January 26th from 7:00 - 9:00pm
Where:  3650 Mosse Humanities Building

In a lecture incorporating many of the themes in his newest book Rollback, NY Times bestselling author Dr. Woods will explain why practically everything you’ve been taught about government, the economy, and the Great Depression is wrong — the product of pro–government propaganda.

Dr. Woods will challenge myths surrounding the Great Depression and other government interventions into the economy, making the case that these interventions often make things worse.  He'll also discuss the need for free markets, the problem with the national debt and entitlements, and the truth about the Fed.  This lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

Tom Woods vs. IU Economics Department

After being rejected twice by the Indiana University economics department, Dr. Tom Woods will (finally) speak at IU-Bloomington ...TONIGHT @ 7 p.m.!

If you are in the Indiana area, this is your last reminder to attend a unique event with Meltdown and Nullification author Dr. Thomas E. Woods, Jr. at Indiana University.

Please bring your friends and family to join us for this exciting event -- an event which almost didn't happen thanks to the strong ideological opposition from the school's economics department. Academic "diversity" at its finest!

The IU YAL chapter worked incredibly hard to make sure this event happened and overcame enormous bias by the administration. But first let me tell you the details:

  • Date: TONIGHT, Tuesday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
  • Location: IU Student Union Building in the Whittenberger Auditorium; 900 E 7th St, Bloomington, IN 47405 [map]
  • Cost: FREE!

For more information and to RSVP, please visit YAL's Event Page or Facebook.

So why is this event such a big victory for our cause?

Well, you may know that Dr. Woods is a graduate of Harvard and Columbia, author of multiple New York Times bestsellers, and a Senior Scholar at the Mises Institute. He probably has more ivy league degrees and bestselling books than the entire IU economics department combined. But, when the IU YAL chapter requested Dr. Woods to speak on campus, they were told "Dr. Woods lacks sufficient academic credibility" to speak to undergraduate students.

Tom Woods' Book on Nullification out Today

Tom Woods' newest book, Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century, hits store shelves today. As perhaps the greatest check on federal authority reserved to the states, the concept of nullification and its importance in safeguarding the sovereignty of the individual states has become diminished over the last century and a half. In his new book, Woods lays out the case for nullification and seeks to educate any and all looking to challenge the power of the federal government and halt the continual erosion of state sovereignty.

Woods comments on his new book in his latest article at LewRockwell.com:

When he memorably laid out the case for nullification in the Kentucky Resolutions of 1798, Thomas Jefferson argued that if the federal government were allowed to hold a monopoly on determining what its powers were, we would have no right to be surprised when it kept discovering new ones. I’ve elaborated on all this in previous articles.
