A student panel will also be featured with some of the top liberty activists in the area to discuss best practices for spreading the message of liberty! Register here!

Free Market Economics and the Future Business Leaders

I have been an active member in the Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda in the past few years, and I've noticed two things from the FBLA perspective:

1. Capitalism (in the sense that true free-market capitalist know it) is bad because it's "unethical"

2. The only school of economics that is "correct" is the Keynesian school.

I'm familiar with these ideas because of the "objective tests" given in categories like "Business Ethics" (which implies that a company that puts profits first is unethical, even though said company would want to put people first in order to put profits first. The test writers are unfamiliar with Adam Smith) and Mr. Future Business Leader (which has implied that globalization is evil and will lead to the downfall of Americanism).

Great News: The Grassroots Did It!

I have just heard from an inside source that Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano will air on FOX starting mid April! This is a huge success for the grassroots movement.

Freedom Watch has traveled to Drexel University and Ohio State University to do live tapings on campus.  It is because of the student groups who worked together to bring the Judge to their campus that Freedom Watch will finally be on Fox for the entire American public to watch.

The show will air 1 day a week on FOX Business and if the ratings are good, they will move up to 5 days a week.

Great job everyone! Now they can hear our voices even louder!

Liberty Conference in Boston

Students for Liberty and the Harvard Libertarian Forum are cohosting a liberty conference for student activists in the Northeast.  I recieved this description of the event:

Attendance at the Northeast Conference is free and includes:

  • A lineup of great speakers, such as Jeffrey Miron of Cato and Dr. Aeon Skoble
  • 3 free meals
  • Free books and resources from The Cato Institute, The Foundation for Economic Education, Reason Magazine, and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education
  • Networking with leaders of the liberty movement
  • A free evening social event

Our Keynote Speaker will be Peter Schiff.  Mr. Schiff is one of the few investment advisors to have correctly called the current bear market before it began. His accurate forecasts on the U.S. stock market, economy, real estate, the mortgage meltdown, credit crunch, subprime debacle, commodities, gold and the dollar, have brought him great renown. An economic adviser for Ron Paul’s campaign in 2008, he is currently seeking the Republican nomination in his home state of Connecticut for the 2010 US Senate election.

Learn more at the SFL website or on Facebook about this chance to see Peter Schiff in person!  (Maybe you'll get a chance to start at YAL chapter there if there isn't one already!)

2009 Southern Students For Liberty Conference

In case you hadn't heard, the WFU chapter of YAL (the first YAL group responsible for hosting Ron Paul) just carried out, on October 24th, the 2009 Southern Students For Liberty Conference. Undoubtedly, the conference was a resounding success.

Souhtern SFL Conf.

Just ask the students at the conference--accolades like "life changing," "beyond inspirational," and "the eye-opener I needed" were not uncommon throughout the day.
