YAL at the SRLC

Here is what I was able to throw together of our YAL Chapter's trip to New Orleans to attend the SRLC. I don't have an HD camera so it's not the best quality. Sorry about that. If you notice anything wrong with the video (spelling errors, etc.) let me know so I can edit it (I put this together last night). Thanks. Enjoy!

Pictures from SRLC

Here are a few pictures from the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Most of them are of our group meeting Dr. Paul. I might be able to find some more we took inside the conference. We had several people with cameras. Hopefully soon I can post some video clips of speeches.

Ron Paul's Great SRLC Speech and Heroic Broader Impact

(See parts 2 and 3 below the jump)

This is so ridiculously awesome. It's absolutely amazing how much the movement has expanded. Look at what Ron Paul has accomplished:  A mainstream crowd at an establishment GOP gathering are clapping raw for a platform of sound monetary policies and a foreign policy of non-interventionism.

I mean really, If one isn't a methodological individualist, how does he explain the rapid phenomenon of Ron Paul? Ron has changed the whole world with nothing more than an open-mind, good ideas, and a little help from his friends. Just three years ago, no one took Dr. Paul seriously. But today, throngs of young people cheer Ron's message of peace and liberty.

2010 SRLC: A Narrow Loss for Team Liberty's Starting Quarterback

votepaul

Ron Paul lost the 2010 SRLC straw poll because of me. I didn't go to cast the deciding vote. I should have bought a plane ticket and sacrificed a weekend in my beloved New York City to be there for my own freedoms, and to be there for Ron Paul, a man who has dedicated his life to restoring liberty for all of us.

Now that I've acknowledged my own fault in this loss, allow me to examine a few other thoughts of mine on the campaign to unite freedom lovers come the 2012 presidential election.

Subject: Gary Johnson

Gary Johnson might be one of the best modern day governors I know of. What little I know about him seems to be favorable and we should definitly keep tabs on him for the future.

Ron Paul Loses by 1 (Yes, ONE) Vote in SRLC Straw Poll

Reporting outside the Hilton Conference center in the Big Easy:

Just as the headline reads, Ron Paul lost the 2010 Presidential Straw Poll by one single vote to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.  This one vote, however, really comes off as a big win for Congressman Paul--Evangelicals for Mitt spent tens of thousands trying to influence voters in the straw poll by giving away Romney books, piggy-banks indicating fiscal responsibility and massive advertising posters of Mitt all throughout the conference.

Ron Paul, on the other hand, merely had a few supporters with homemade signs.

As I attended the 2010 SRLC to spread the mission of YAL with dozens of other liberty lovers from the South, I could not but help to notice how many people were starting to support the liberty movement. Although a majority of these people did not vote for Ron Paul in 2008, there appeared some sort of changing sentiment, rising, and fast, for this man and his ideas of, well...big-tent, really, really--really small-government.

Results from the SRLC 2010 straw-poll:

Newt Gingrich    18%
Mike Huckabee  4%
Gary Johnson    1%
Sarah Palin       18%
Ron Paul            24% (438 votes)
Tim Pawlenty   3%
Mike Pence      3%
Mitt Romney    24% (439 votes)
Rick Santorum    2%
