YAL Welcomes Jack Hunter to Our National Staff!

YAL is very pleased to announce the addition of Jack Hunter, also known as the Southern Avenger, to our national staff. He is joining YAL in the position of Director of Outreach, and will be responsible for building and maintaining good relationships with our allies in the liberty movement.

Jack has previously been involved in YAL as a writer and contributing editor of Young American Revolution and a participant and host at many of YAL's events, particularly at the annual CPAC conference.

Outside of YAL he is widely published, perhaps most notably as a coauthor of Senator Rand Paul's book, The Tea Party Goes to Washington. A prominant figure in the liberty movement, Jack's most recent writings and videos may be viewed at his website.

I know I can speak for all of the YAL staff when I say we are thrilled to have Jack on board, and look forward to working with him for years to come!

SA@TAC -- Wikileaks Revisited

Jack Hunter, AKA the Southern Avenger, takes a look back on Wikileaks and the aftermath.

Today, Julian Assange, the whistleblower and face of Wikileaks, is hardly talked about anymore on the mainstream media. Wikileaks has since become a credible news source. And the predictions about threats to national security created by Wikileaks have been proven false. The attacks on Wikileaks, last year, by politicians and mainstream media, are now thought of as shameful attempts led by the political establishment to censor information that would simply have embarassed the political class and threatened thier grip on power.

As I write this column, neoconservatives and many in the Republican establishment are criticizing 2012 GOP presidential candidates Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain and Mitt Romney for opposing the American intervention in Libya and for suggesting that America needs to get out of Afghanistan.

Recognizing that such non-interventionism is relatively new for each of these candidates, many constitutional conservatives automatically dismiss them as being Johnny-come-latelies.

They are wrong to dismiss them.

Jack Hunter on the Battle for Young Americans

Jack Hunter, AKA the Southern Avenger, has a new video about Young Americans for Freedom purging Ron Paul from its advisory board -- mostly due to his non-interventionist foreign policy views -- after he again won the CPAC presidential straw poll this year. Jack notes the long tradition of (real) conservatives that are opposed to empire and war, and how YAL's commitment to this truly conservative position on foreign policy is one reason why it's an organization with thousands of members that continues to grow.

Ohio YAL Conference Recap

On Saturday, January 22, YAL members from across Ohio met in Columbus at the campus of the Ohio State University to take part in the first ever Ohio YAL Conference.

After kicking off the day with a terrific presentation on YAL and the real nature of politics by the YAL Midwest Regional Director himself Dave Grabaskas, attendees received top notch political training in campaign management from Raz Shafer of American Majority.

Conference attendees were also able to hear valuable political insights from a great lineup of speakers including Maurice Thompson of the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law, Joe Bozzi of the Ohio Freedom Alliance, Chris Littleton of the Ohio Liberty Council, Jim Babka of Downsize DC, former Ohio State Representative Seth Morgan, and the Southern Avenger himself, Jack Hunter.

Conservatism and the Military Industrial Complex

Jack Hunter, the Southern Avenger, takes aim in this video at the relationship of "conservatives" and the military industrial complex. Personally, I think he's definitely right on when he says that it's not the same thing to support the troops and give the Pentagon insane amounts of money. Check out this great video below.
