YAL Member from Fordham Scores Internship with Silver Circle!

image

With huge deadlines approaching and our film gaining traction in mainstream and niche fields we have expanded as a crew and this Summer we have brought in a new intern to blog, tweet, and market the movie like a champ! His name is John, he's a sophomore at Fordham University in New York studying Political Science and a participating member in his local Young Americans for Liberty chapter, along with various other liberty-oriented activities.

He has already started off on a great foot writing an article about a man who was arrested and spent two nights in jail for drinking Snapple! In his first week the article he wrote was shared 171 times and even linked onto the controversial "Cop Block" Facebook page, so be ready for some writing that will stir the pot a bit and educate you on the latest news in the political sphere.

Silver Circle Reviews 'Atlas Shrugged: Part I'

Silver Circle was recently granted access to a sneak peek of 'Atlas Shrugged: Part I,' based on Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged.  As filmmakers ourselves, the excitement and anticipation grew as we entered the screening in San Diego where others buzzed about their expectations for the film.  The screenwriter, John Aglialoro, was there to present the film and take questions following its debut. The filmmakers were also giving away one version of the movie poster, which was a simple white poster with the words "Who is John Galt?" scribbled on them. I didn't manage to get my hands on the poster, but if I were you I'd grab one if you get the opportunity. It is a part of history.

The film surprised me immediately when placed the story in modern times. As timeless as Ayn Rand's novel was, I felt like I lived in the mid 20th century while reading it. If you can imagine the differences this would play in understanding the world around the characters, you can understand the process of acclimation to watch this film after reading the book.

Peter Schiff on the Fed's Future

When you think of the financial crisis and the lonely voices that predicted the housing market and dollar's demise, what face do you see? If Peter Schiff pops into your head, you've been paying close attention.

Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, sat down with our Director, Pasha Roberts, to discuss the economic-disaster world our Rebels live in in 2019. One thing Schiff notices right off the bat is our timeline may be a bit generous to the Federal Reserve.

Please enjoy and share our interview, available here.

I the readers of this blog who have smart phones are constantly checking their Kitco App even if they don't even own silver -- you know deep down you'll buy some soon, right?! Well, a newer and slightly different app has been created for smart phones, but hasn't been released on the iPhone as of this writing. I'm not going to lie, I open my Kitco App at least once a day. Now you can learn more about your silver and how much that nickel you got back in your coffee change is really worth.

Silver Circle Mentioned on FOXNews.com

The anti-Fed film, Silver Circle, flooded CPAC with guerilla-style marketing this weekend.  With flyers sporting a burning hundred dollar bill and shiny silver stickers, you could spot supporters around the jam-packed conference.

Someone else took notice to the film's marketing strategy and covered their work. Check out the article from FOXNews.com, where Megan Duffield, Massachusetts Chair of YAL was interviewed about this "fun, hip and palatable" film.

Lightening Round with Peter Schiff

image

A week from today, we will be meeting with Peter Schiff to sit down and talk about Silver Circle's dystopian setting and the correlation to the world we live in today. Schiff is known best for his prediction of the 2008 economic downturn, which is now evolving into his 2011 predictions. It's not looking pretty for the dollar and this artificially propped up economy.

However, this is your chance to pick the brain of one of the best financial experts in the country!  Click to SilverUnderground.com to send in questions for Peter Schiff.

What Would You Do for 3 oz. of Silver?

Help promote Silver Circle in a creative, viral way?

This week we are asking all of our followers to put together YouTube videos for Silver Circle and share them with friends. How will you win silver? Whoever has the most votes will be awarded on February 1st (the day of the Fiat Money Bomb).

The content of your video is to help promote our current fundraiser, the Fiat Money Bomb. The Sundance Film Festival Deadline is September 3rd and we want to  make it there. Our goal is to raise $10,000 in pledges by February 1st, then on February 1st we will ask for all pledges to convert to donations. This will create a "bomb" of money within one day, and a great story for our track to success as well as a great way to show the need for liberty films to distributors around the country.

Still unsure what you are supposed to do? Well let me break down the guidelines and rules to the contest. We are looking for our followers to produce YouTube videos about Silver Circle. If you are camera-shy you don't have to be in the video, nor are voice-overs a must.  Create a video that you think will attract the most views. Here are the guidelines:

Silver Circle's Rebel of the Week: YAL's John Jones

image

John Logan Jones is a retired American serviceman with top secret clearance who served in the American Air Force from 2005 to 2009 as an Afghan-Pashtu linguist and intelligence specialist.  He has since then come out in support of Wikileaks and the free flow of information as well as taking up a number of libertarian causes like sound money and a Paulestinian reading of the Constitution, and has worked with groups such as Young Americans for Liberty. (He's also a big fan of Silver Circle!)

Last week a post of his entitled “I am a US Air Force Intelligence Veteran of the War in Afghanistan and I support Wikileaks,” from his blog “Crushing Bastards,” made the front page at Reddit.com and earned him 22,000 unique viewers, many of whom were subsequently exposed to other libertarian ideas.  For this effort and his courageous and credible stance in favor of an open society, John Logan Jones is Silver Underground’s Rebel of the Week.
