Have YOUR "End the Fed" Sign in Silver Circle Movie!

Silver Circle is producing an animated film about a rebel group that takes on the mighty Fed.  In this futuristic tale, heavy inflation takes over as the financial institution's power grows.

The cool parts about this film are all the ways to get involved.  Through the whole month of May you can submit your photos of signs or send the actual sign to be included in the movie to the address or e-mail listed here in the Facebook event.  Any protest signs you would like to send it that are relevant to monetary policy and the Fed are welcome!

The students at Drexel University's Student Liberty Front as well as Silver Circle will hold an online gallery of the photos where, after the submission period has ended, everyone can vote on their favorites.

So now you're mad at the government?

My column this week at the Daily Caller is a challenge to moderates and moderate conservatives to see that the recent government actions on healthcare are really just one more action in a pattern of government being far too involved in our economy and our lives.

...It seems to me that such (anti-healthcare) protests are fueled by anger at the government for getting involved where they do not belong and passing legislation that could have dire consequences for both our freedom and our economy.

Not to be smug, but I have to ask the obvious question—is this anything new? Firstly, government-led destruction of our health care system has been going on for decades. Obamacare is simply the latest in a pattern of government claiming to solve problems while merely creating new ones and exacerbating old ones. However, health care is far from the only arena where this takes place.

University of California-San Diego Protests Healthcare Bill

Here at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) we are finally off to our Spring Break. And, we're getting prepared for big things this coming quarter. Last month we held a protest against the recently passed health care bill.

YAL Protest

If you don’t know where UCSD is located, we are in La Jolla, California, one of the wealthiest communities in the United States.  The health care bill has often been portrayed as a struggle between rich whites vs. poor minorities, so one might expect the residents of La Jolla would have supported our protest...right?  On the contrary, many of the wealthy in California are for big government, probably because most of them have gained their wealth through corporatist interests.

The Unsuccessful "Kill the Bill" Protest

On Saturday, March 20th, about 5,000 patriots gathered on the mall to "kill the bill." Local news is reporting 5-10,000 people present while FreedomWorks organizers' estimates are upward 25K people present at the protest. People circled the Capitol building throughout the entire weekend, chanting "kill the bill!"

Photos below taken by myself and Seth Blaustein.

"Unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all"

Those words were spoken by Mario Savio in a speech that helped start the protest movement of the Sixties.  Compiled with video from the protest in Tiananmen Square, this video inspires those of us who believe in individual liberty.

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus -- and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it -- that unless you're free the machine will be prevented from working at all! - Marco Savio

IU YAL 'Activism in Action'

In the wake of the 'Death of the Dollar Vigil' held in Bloomington this past week, the YAL Chapter at Indiana University held an End the Fed protest as part of National End The Fed Day.  The group informed students and non-students alike about how the Federal Reserve operates and how it has contributed to the destruction of both the value of the US Dollar and our economy.  Additionally,  thanks to the Advocates for Self Government, the IU YAL Chapter was able to showcase the World's Smallest Political Quiz.  Another great example of activism in action by the IU YAL Chapter!

H1N1 Vaccine Protest

New York has annouced mandatory H1N1 vaccination for their health care workers. The New York State Department of Health has declared that by November 30th you must be vaccinated, unless you have a "personal health issue" which may exempt you.

With the state trying to forcibly vaccinate them, health care workers across the state have begun refusing to take this sitting down. Tomorrow (Tuesday) from 11am to 1pm  NY Healthcare Concerned Citizens Group will be leading a protest of hundreds of NY healthcare workers in Albany.

Click here to hear the leaders of this protest discuss what their hospitals are doing and why they are refusing it. Remember, if New York can do this to their health care workers it could set a precedent to make this mandatory for all citizens. With that in mind I doubt they would disagree with some help spreading their message if you're going to be in the area.

G-20 Video Roundup (9/25/09)

In the interest of what's happening at the G-20 summit, rather than spotlight one video I thought I'd just bring you guys a roundup of the videos that have found today. The G-20 summit is going on right now in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, as you will see, the police state is healthier than ever.

  • Riot Police trap group of University of Pittsburgh Students on staircase, then tear gas and pepper spray them.
  • More video of that incident, with student opinions. If anything, it seems this might wake some students up.
  • A shorter video of that same spot at Towers Patio.
  • Riot police take over the University of Pittsburgh campus.
  • Remember, people, you need a permit to challenge the man!
  • Luke Rudkowski and We Are Change school the Pittsburgh police on the Constitution.
  • The BBC reports on the G-20 protests.
  • This is one of the more infamous videos from the G20, a young man getting taken in an unmarked car.
  • Russia Today reports on the G-20 protests, though I daresay they're jumping to conclusions a bit in the news clip.
  • CNN reporter hit by tear gas. I was struck by Wolf Blitzer's use of the word "distraction."
  • Just for good measure, here's a great article on the G-20 summit.
