Americans Say "No" to Keynes

According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 70% of Americans think that deficit spending should be decreased in tough economic times. Rasmussen goes on to say:

Rejection of Keynesian economics is found across demographic and partisan lines. Republicans and those not affiliated with either major party overwhelmingly reject the notion that increasing the deficit is the right prescription in difficult economic times. Among Democrats, 21% agree with the Keynesian approach, and 47% do not.

We're all Keynesians now, indeed.

Most Americans Favor Smaller Government

Here's an interesting finding from a recent Washington Post- ABC News poll:

[Obama has lost much ground] during his first year of trying to convince the public that more government is the answer to the country's problems. By 58 percent to 38 percent, Americans said they prefer smaller government and fewer services to larger government with more services. Since he won the Democratic nomination in June 2008, the margin between those favoring smaller over larger government has moved in Post-ABC polls from five points to 20 points.

When will Washington listen to the people?

Are the American People catching on?

We live in an interesting political climate, with Americans still disgusted by memories of the Bush Administration but quickly realizing the O-bomb-ya administration represents little in the way of "change." Accordingly, 38% of Americans favor neither the Democrats or the Republicans in the 2010 elections. Does anyone else sense that the establishment duopoly of pro-warfare/welfare state Republicans and pro-welfare/warfare Democrats is finally starting to deteriorate?
