Another Blatant Lie

In 2006, Senator Obama  voted against the 2006 Military Commissions Act.  Last May, he gave a speech, regarded as one of his best national security speeches, where he condemned “the flawed commissions of the last seven years” and that under him the commissions would be “in line with the rule of law.”

Ready for the change offered? The man who will be making key decisions for the Obama Administration in regards to trying remaining Gitmo detainees in military commissions is a former top aide to Donald Rumsfield, William Lietzau. William played a big role in the Bush Administration's first military commission for terrorists, which were later found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

I guess this guy's track record is good enough for Obama to believe that the rule of law will be upheld. By the way this William Lietzau has argued that the War on Terror is a special case that is exempt from international law, such as the Geneva Convention.  This is sadly just another example of a blatant lie from the Obama Administration.

Kudos to Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent for breaking this story.

Deficit & Debt: Goodbye American Power

The United States has an interesting role in global markets. Since World War II, the US has entangled itself in superfluous alliances and Keynesian markets, engaging in the same illusory markets as its European counterparts. As Jihan discussed, we have recently learned that President Barack Obama’s proposed federal budget may put the United States' economic legitimacy in even greater risk than it has been before for several reasons. Primary, our deficit is running off “nearly 11 percent of the country’s entire economic output.” But as the NY Times has stated, most deficits are usually brought down during peacetime. However, with the way the United States has been handling foreign policy as of recent, any form of “peacetime” seems like an ocean away from any “hope.”

Obama's New Gitmo Deadline

ldt

Obama's new Gitmo deadline is not this year or next year -- but January 22, 2013. Political obstacles are key to this delay, but keep in mind how little Obama has accomplished of what he promised for this year.

As promising as a Jan. 22, 2010 deadline sounded, some were not deceived. John Bellinger, who was Condoleeza Rice's advisor, speculated that Obama would fall short of his promise.

Others don't see it would make much of a difference at all. "What's the point? You would just be moving Guantanamo in the US," said Human Rights Watch counterterrorism adviser Stacy Sullivan.

As typical as this is of Obama's political mishaps and misteps, one thing is for sure: He as revived the right, at least for the time being. Whether it be the Tea Partiers, fiscal or social conservatives, liberatarians or independants, there is a growing national disapproval of the Obama administration's Marxist and globalist policies.

US Dismisses Treaty To End Korean War

nk

I am a little surprised that Obama's administration would reject this treaty. This inane conflict was initiated in 1950, but apparently the deaths of thousands of soldeirs and millions of civilians are still not enough to cease this unnessecary conflict.  Isn't more than half a century enough of a long, sensless conflict for Washington?

Us officials have said that "they will not pay North Korea to come back to the six party talks." North Korea abandoned talks in early 2009 after the United States has been critical of its sucessful nuclear weapons test -- a test which was legal under international treaty law.

Hey Liberals -- The Obama Administration has, is, and will continue to torture

Those statists and "peacenik" celebrities who claim to oppose torture "on principle," yet sanction the Obama warfare state, are deeply naive.

It's either ethical to blow children's legs off for some "greater good," or it is absolutely morally unacceptable. While I consider the views of a philosophical consequentialist like Henry Kissinger deplorable, he at least has some intellectual credibility that the standard flag-waver lacks.

In their minds, (NB: explicit imagerythese sorts of things "don't count," as torture. After all, it was (sorta) sanctioned by the US state in its undeclared "war on terror." I'm sure the parents of the children are completely fine with their torture since this is considered to be "public policy," by US state and its "sacred" military.

Are the American People catching on?

We live in an interesting political climate, with Americans still disgusted by memories of the Bush Administration but quickly realizing the O-bomb-ya administration represents little in the way of "change." Accordingly, 38% of Americans favor neither the Democrats or the Republicans in the 2010 elections. Does anyone else sense that the establishment duopoly of pro-warfare/welfare state Republicans and pro-welfare/warfare Democrats is finally starting to deteriorate?
