Rep. Michele Bachmann is against the EPA . . . sort of

Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota wants to padlock the E.P.A.’s doors, as does former Speaker Newt Gingrich. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas wants to impose an immediate moratorium on environmental regulation.
Representative Ron Paul of Texas wants environmental disputes settled by the states or the courts. Herman Cain, a businessman, wants to put many environmental regulations in the hands of an independent commission that includes oil and gas executives. Jon M. Huntsman Jr., the former Utah governor, thinks most new environmental regulations should be shelved until the economy improves.

This all sounds fine and good on the surface. Republicans have spent a lot of time and energy over the years demonizing the Environmental Protection Agency, one more troublesome legacy left by fellow Republican Richard Nixon, but they’ve never really done anything about it.

Specter to Bachmann: Act Like a Lady

No debate, just interrupting, insult, and argument. Is this what Congress has become?

Harry Reid is working hard to muscle ObamaCare through the Senate.
The AP reports on Rand Paul's early promise in the KY senate race.
However, a weakening dollar and rising oil prices point to additional current inflation-related problems.
Walter Block is fighting diverso-fascism, and in style.
Good for Michele Bachmann for "moving around" the spineless GOP leadership in her political activity.
She'd better continue this streak of independence, as an anti-establishment movement is swelling in American politics.

Time gives a reasonably balanced case on the potential side effects of mass vaccinations for H1N1.
State-friendly euphemisms aside, "murder" is what the neocons have planned for the Iranians.
Hey Obama -- Free trade=peace and prosperity, tariffs=statism and strife, says Cato's Dan Griswold.
Forget about the bureaucrats' "budget estimates," the "health care" bill isn't even Constitutional.
The Star Tribune covers a certain congressman's rally sponsored by a certain youth group.
And a certain congresswoman, who was undoubtedly awesome in the college Town Hall, apparently is actively soliciting the support of libertarians.

(P.S.-Adopt Ron Paul's views on foreign policy and you've got an army, Ms. Bachmann.)

Incredible Day for YAL and the Liberty Movement

In addition to Jeff Frazee and The U of M YAL chapter doing an objectively awesome job in tonight's Student Town Hall, Tom Woods made us all proud earlier today in the HR 1207 hearings with his indictment of the Fed's "easy" monetary policies and lack of public accountability.

Two events to watch today

Today is an exciting day for liberty, and fortunately for you, it's all being streamed online. There are two very important events to watch today:

First, at 9 AM H.R. 1207 will finally get its hearing in the house. Tom Woods is among those testifying, and the hearing may be viewed live here.

Second, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann are sharing the stage in Minnesota tonight in student town hall at the University of Minnesota. The event runs from 7 to 10 PM. If you're anywhere remotely close, the event is free and open to the public. For the rest of us, however, a live video feed will be available here and audio here. This will be the first time Dr. Paul has publicly spoken since the hearings, of course, so expect a very interesting speech!

Young Americans for Liberty will host Congressman Ron Paul and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota on Friday, September 25 @ 7:00pm CT.

This event is the same day as the just-announced hearings on HR 1207. Congressman Paul will start the day on Capitol Hill, then quickly travel to Minneapolis to discuss monetary reform, limited government, and a free market economy on campus.

This will be the first opportunity to hear Congressman Paul after the HR 1207 hearings. There is no doubt his speech will be unique and exciting.
