Daniel Cespedes, a YAL member from Oregon State University, made this awesome video based on Judge Andrew Napolitano's segment on Freedom Watch, "Rembembering 9/11: One Day, Our Descendants Will Know the Truth."
You've probably heard the various reasons why we need to raise the debt ceiling, including how if we don't America will slip into default, our economy will tank, our dollar will lose all value, our credit rating will suffer, the world economy will collapse, and Beelzebub himself will rise from the underworld and swallow Newfoundland whole. The most parroted consequence is the issue of default, which according to many Washington politicos, has never happened before. Ever since we became a country, we have always fulfilled our debt obligations, whatever the cost was, and this would be an unprecedented breakdown of compromise and American integrity.
Except for one thing: we have defaulted before...three times. Last night on his show Freedom Watch, Judge Andrew Napolitano talks about those chapters in American history that aren't discussed nearly as much as they should be. The Judge explains why the US had to default, what it did to the dollar, and how the only way we can hope to break the vicious debt cycle we've gotten ourselves into is to stop borrowing.
My friends from PA, NJ and NY: Hopefully I'll see you all at this event! As someone who helped with similar training in New Jersey earlier this summer, I can promise it will be worth your while -- especially since the Judge will be there, being his awesomely honest self!
Don't forget that starting this evening, Freedom Watch, hosted by Judge Andew Napolitano, airs at 9pm nightly this week on Fox Business! Tonight the Judge will be discussing the latest on the TSA and its controversial airport full body scanners.
Here's a video from the this past week's episode to hold you over until the week long freedom-a-thon begins.
It's nice to see Stewart both expecting Napolitano to give commentary and acknowledging his differences from the standard conservative talking points. Maybe we're getting somewhere...
In yet another attempt to equate political dissent to terrorism, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC); an American legal advocacy organization that publishes a quarterly Intelligence Report investigating extremism and hate groups in the United States, included Dr. Ron Paul and Judge Andrew Napolitano in its April, 2010 Publication, Meet the "Patriots."
This publication labels Dr. Paul as a "Radical Libertarian" and a "Conspiracy Theorist." It suggests that Judge Napolitano missed out on an opportunity to "rub elbows with neo-confederates, conspiracy theorists, and antigovernment patriot activists" when he was unable to speak at a Tenth Ammendment Summit in Atlanta this past February. This publication also demonizes 2008 Presidential Candidate Chuck Baldwin, former IRS Agent Joe Banister, Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America (GOA) and many more. It should be noted that many militia Organizers who may or may not present a legitimate threat also appeared in this same publication.
No, I'm not kidding. In fact, I'm far from kidding.
Guess who busted out the Nolan chart on their show just the other night, alongside Judge Andrew Napolitano? Yep, the one, the only, the controversial and frequent "ranter," Glenn Beck.
But the very interesting thing, however, was how much credence he gave the concept of libertarianism. Furthermore, what surprised me was that the son-of-a-gun actually explained it well.
Check out the video (posted below as well) from Beck's recent program where he explains the Nolan chart; but more importantly, make sure you send it to a "conservative," or any Glenn Beck fan. Convert these fans; don't fight them just yet.
I had intended on writing a recap of my experience at this years Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), however, I believe this video sums up my thoughts and emotions quite well.
