YAL's Jeff Frazee Makes It on TV

YAL's executive director Jeff Frazee has made it on TV thanks to CPAC 2010.  First, the Ryan Sorba/GOProud incident is discussed on Olbermann.  Then, for just a split second, he notes on the Daily Show that "tyranny" is among our enemies.  Congratulations on your 15 seconds of fame, Jeff.

SNL on FOX News

Apropos of the recent post on Jon Stewart's defense of Ron Paul against FOX's tendency to conveniently forget about him:

Jon Stewart Defends Ron Paul Against Fox News

My biggest criticism/question of the "Tea Party" movement as it has grown into a national phenomena has been, Where were all these protesters of big spending and big government when the Bush administration was doing all of the same things the Obama administration is doing? In a recent interview with Jon Stewart on Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor" Jon brought up this very point. Though in the process he asked something that made me take back all of my criticisms of Mr. Stewart over the past year.

Jon Stewart: "Here's another thing about the Tea Party Movement. Where was the anger? When we were spent into a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit under the Bush Administration. This has appeared out of no-where."

Bill O'Reilly: "It should have been there, and I'm partially to blame for that."

Jon Stewart: "Then why did Fox News not treat Ron Paul better? When he's been talking about this stuff for the past 8 years... 10 years."

O'Reilly of course shrugs it off and not only dodges the question but scoffs at the notion that Ron Paul is to be taken serious. Hats off to Jon Stewart for proving the point that Fox News is the same ole' propaganda machine for the Neo-Conservatives.  Forward to the 6 minute mark of this clip to hear the exchange.

A Roundup of Liberty-Related Stuff

Here's a collection of information (on the TSA, Iraq, Jon Stewart, Barry Goldwater, and Ron Paul) I've been accumulating over the last few days which you  might find interesting:

  • An eight-year-old on the no-fly list?  Well, technically no, but his name is -- he shares it with a suspicious person.  As a result, Mikey Hicks of New Jersey has been getting "random" pat downs at the airport since he was two.  Because clearly we couldn't involve common sense and let the kid get on a plane without a hassle (eye roll).
  • "Daddy, why did we have to attack Iraq?"  Well, for a lot of reasons, apparently.  Here's just a taste:

Q:Daddy, why did we have to attack Iraq?
A:Because they had weapons of mass destruction.
Q:But the inspectors didn't find any weapons of mass destruction.
A:That's because the Iraqis were hiding them.
    ...
Q:Why did Iraq want all those weapons of mass destruction?
A:To use them in a war, silly.
Q:I'm confused. If they had all those weapons that they planned to use in a war, then why didn't they use any of those weapons when we went to war with them?
A:Well, obviously they didn't want anyone to know they had those weapons, so they chose to die by the thousands rather than defend themselves.
  • Here's a new video from Jon Stewart on the continued failure of the economy and new Wall Street bonuses.

Stewart: "getting attacked -- only way Americans learn about geography"

It's starting to get a bit absurd. I'm not sure how much longer the government is going to be able to sell the War on Terror when we must go to war with a new country every six months. First it was Afghanistan and Iraq; yesterday it was Pakistan and Iran; today we're discussing Yemen and tomorrow it's going to be...Oman? Jon Stewart points out the criteria by which Yemen qualifies to be the next country in line for American occupation.

David Weidner: It's Ron Paul's world, we can only read about it

David Weidner of Marketwatch.com wrote an interesting and critical piece on Ron Paul's stance on the Fed today.

Anyone would be challenged to get young Americans to care about matters so complex and dull, but Paul does it in the same way [Jon] Stewart sells world affairs to college stoners: he makes it entertaining -- and he offers hope things can change.

don't steal

Ron Paul visits New York Federal Reserve

On Tuesday, September 29th, Ron Paul made a tour of New York for a End the Fed book signing, Daily Show appearance and a spontaneous protest at the steps of the New York Federal Reserve bank.

After the morning book signing at Borders Books located in the Financial District of Manhattan, Dr. Paul asked, "is the Federal Reserve building close by?" After he found out it was, he led the way for a photo op in front of the Fed's most powerful branch, the New York Federal Reserve Bank. In the video below be sure to catch Dr. Paul's exchange with the Federal Reserve Police.

The Unwinnable War in Afghanistan

I haven't been watching the Daily Show much recently because they haven't quite gotten over their affection for Mr. Obama, despite his many failings.  This, however, is excellent.
