We Actually Defaulted before...Three Times, in Fact

You've probably heard the various reasons why we need to raise the debt ceiling, including how if we don't America will slip into default, our economy will tank, our dollar will lose all value, our credit rating will suffer, the world economy will collapse, and Beelzebub himself will rise from the underworld and swallow Newfoundland whole. The most parroted consequence is the issue of default, which according to many Washington politicos, has never happened before. Ever since we became a country, we have always fulfilled our debt obligations, whatever the cost was, and this would be an unprecedented breakdown of compromise and American integrity.

Except for one thing: we have defaulted before...three times. Last night on his show Freedom Watch, Judge Andrew Napolitano talks about those chapters in American history that aren't discussed nearly as much as they should be. The Judge explains why the US had to default, what it did to the dollar, and how the only way we can hope to break the vicious debt cycle we've gotten ourselves into is to stop borrowing.

Freedom Watch on TV

As most of you all know Freedom Watch now has a regular time slot on the Fox Business Channel.  I encourage everyone to try to watch it on TV or on the internet to keep its ratings up.  The Judge has a great show, and maybe just be the only thought provoking show in the main stream media.

In the shows first week Freedom Watch pulled in Sarah Palin, Ron and Rand Paul.  The lastest episode already has news a buzz after having Glenn Beck on, and having him admit he is "more Ron Paul than Sarah Palin."

Check out more Freedom Watch here or on Foxnews.com.

Great News: The Grassroots Did It!

I have just heard from an inside source that Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano will air on FOX starting mid April! This is a huge success for the grassroots movement.

Freedom Watch has traveled to Drexel University and Ohio State University to do live tapings on campus.  It is because of the student groups who worked together to bring the Judge to their campus that Freedom Watch will finally be on Fox for the entire American public to watch.

The show will air 1 day a week on FOX Business and if the ratings are good, they will move up to 5 days a week.

Great job everyone! Now they can hear our voices even louder!

YAL on LewRockwell.com!

From Lew Rockwell himself comes a report he recieved by email of YAL's Freedom Watch event at Ohio State last night:

What a night and what a crowd at the Newport Music Hall to see a taping of Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch and see Dr. Paul last night.

The line outside the hall stretched for blocks before they opened the doors, and what a classy group!  The message of Liberty attracts people from all backgrounds and this was on full display last night.  This Liberty brew is non-homogenized — young people, older folks, bikers, housewives, hippies, business people, goths, rednecks, farmers, and everyone in between hear Ron’s message and come together peacefully to cheer for…ENDING THE FED, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and Austrian economics. This crowd gave some of the wildest applause when Dr. Paul mentioned Mises, Hayek, and Rothbard — who would have ever thought!?!
