I No Longer Fear Big Brother... I Now Fear Big Sister

Yesterday, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke for a half hour about the need of our nation to respond to the threat of terrorism. Basically, her bottom line is the federal government needs to do more to educate the American people and make them "assets" instead of "liabilities." Here's the article

Personally, I'm freaked out. This sounds alot like the spies talked about in 1984. She's recruiting the public to be on the lookout for terrorists <or as 1984 would put it enemy spies.> Given certain definitions of dangerous persons, I think this is great cause for concern amongst freedom loving people everywhere.

Biden "Helps" US-Russian Relations

According to the Washington Post, Vice President Joe Biden said the following about Russia"

They have a shrinking population base, they have a withering economy, they have a banking sector and structure that is not likely to be able to withstand the next 15 years, they're in a situation where the world is changing before them and they're clinging to something in the past that is not sustainable.

This certainly is a dramatic change in rhetoric from three weeks ago when Obama talked of "resetting" our relationship with Russia.  (It also sounds not so very far off from our own situtation, ironically -- even our population base is shrinking if you discount immigration)

Once again Bumbling Biden provides insight into what's really going on inside the Obama Administration, and reveals rather succinctly how little has really changed from the previous administration.

Revenge of the Plumber

Angry Joe

Ok, anybody remember this guy? His name is Joe, Joe the plumber. He's really not a plumber. He's the guy that McCain and Palin used in the 2008 election to represent the American taxpayers. The guy that asked Obama some hard questions about what he was doing with taxpayers dollars. Well, he's back and he has some interesting things to say about McPalin and the rest of the Neoconservatives in the Republican Party.

Wurzelbacher said he had voted for McCain but without enthusiasm. "In the end, I had to choose the lesser of two evils.

"Does the Republican Party represent anything I stand for right now? Absolutely not," he said. "Right now the Republican Party doesn't even know what it stands for."

While using this guy was a cheap political move on the part of McCain and Palin, I hope perhaps now this man's words could be used for a different movement and a different politician. Maybe the R3volution? Maybe Ron Paul? Only time will tell.

Here's the link.

Idle Threats About Global Warming

Massive crop devastation, melting glaciers, water shortages, millions of displaced people -- all of these will drag the US military into conflict if global climate change goes unchecked, a Senate panel was warned today.

Does the above quote sound like fear mongering to anybody else besides me?   Our government seems to be preparing us for the idea that  we will have to go to war (again/still) if we don't pass their wasteful, socialistic legislation.  What better way to gain power in a nation than to ramp up people's fears of a global catastrophe?

What's also interesting is the lack of scientific tests confirming this theory.  Yes, there was the obligatory "scientists agree," but this is basically a subjective poll of scientists' opinions, not an actual test.  In the brave new world in which we live all that apparently matters is that everybody agrees we need to increase government control over energy policy, the automotive industry, and whatever else we've forgotten to put the government in charge of already.

This report from Political Intelligence is both disturbing and insightful, reflecting the same old strategy of fear mongering we've had for years -- only this time with a big Green Smiley Face stamped on top of it.

Healthcare Fail

Not only is Obama's flaunted healthcare overhaul completely unconstitutional, irresponsible, and extraordinarily wasteful, but now even Democrats won't rally to the cause. Obama is having to meet one on one with various members of his own party to pass this behemoth legislation. Leads one to wonder what will happen if it ever actually gets passed...

Also interesting is this list, released by the Republican House whip, of quotes from no less than 42 House Democrats who say for a variety of reasons that they cannot support the healthcare plan.

Government Motors Fail

So General Motors' (now known by many as Government Motors) sales fell by 22 percent in the first quarter of 2009. Hmmm... looks like our taxpaying dollars went to a great cause right?

The Fed's Writing on the Wall

I love this article by MSNBC. It's a weak attempt by big government-loving Democrats to attack Ron Paul's efforts to destroy the Federal Reserve. They describe his legislative history as being a principled failure, and act as though his strong stance against big government, fiat currency, and wasteful spending is a bad idea. I think this demonstrates how much the mainstream media fears such efforts and wants them to fail.  They have every reason to fear Ron Paul's rising popularity, however, because their unprincipled way of doing things is coming to an end.
