Taste the Liberty: Celebrating Constitution Day at Duquesne University

DUYAL's Constitution Day celebration was a success! We got a prime table location in our Student Union and had a nice set up. Thank you, YAL National, for all the great materials -- we aren't sure who is doing it, but YARs keep turning up in the stacks of magazines around campus.

Operation Constitution Day UTSA: Great Success!

Young Americans for Liberty - UTSA had overwhelming support on the September 17 Constitution Day celebration. They created a 17-ft (YES!) Constitution and pinned it to a populated area on campus. During the day, YAL handed out over 200+ Constitutions (every last one we had), and recieved 6-ft worth of signatures on the Constitution which accumulated to 325+ signatures on the Constitution. These signatures not only represent a belief but also show proof that the Constitution is an instrument to protect our Liberties. The signatures also represented a petition and a request to return to our original Constitutional principles!

This attention didn't go unnoticed! KSAT 12 (check out the article and video section), a San Antonio ABC-affilate, picked up the story and hung around for over an hour enjoying the event. In the coming days, there is also chance for several articles in local papers, including the school paper. Check out a few pictures here, but more can be found on our Facebook page.

It's Constitution Day!

YAL chapters everywhere have big activism plans for today, but in the meantime, if you haven't read this thing yet, take a look. It's a pretty short document, as laws go. It's also far from perfect, but I think it's safe to say that if our government actually followed it, that would be highly preferable to our present situation.

Preamble

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Article I

Section 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.
