Rudy Giuliani: Blind Squirrel

imageThe old adage that even a blind squirrel will occasionally find a nut seems to fit former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's appearance on CNN Sunday morning:

...[the] Republican Party would be well advised to get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states...Stay out of it... And I think we'd be a much more successful political party if we stuck to our economic, conservative roots and our idea of a strong, assertive America that is not embarrassed to be the leader of the world.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.   Meanwhile, America's mayor is rumored to be considering another presidential run.   Last time he spent $52 million and won one delegate.  He was recently quoted as saying, "This time I'd run to win."  Apparently last time he was running to finish seventh and, having succeeded wildly, plans to step it up a notch.

New Poll Shows Majority Disapprove of Obama

obamaYes, there are some good news in the midst of all this. A new CNN poll shows that Obama's approval rating is not so much a good news for him. The poll reveals that 51% of the 1,030 participants disapprove of the president. Healthcare also received a high negative rating of 56%. The highest negeative was in regards to his handling of the national deficits -- 62%. He doesn't score much higher on the economy either, getting 54% disapproval and 43% approval.

That's right Mr. President, Americans are not fans of central economic planning.

However, Obama does have some approval on the issues of foreign policy and terrorism:  55% view his work there positively, and that figure has gone up by four points since January. However, I would suspect that those numbers will change as more Americans realize he is not finishing these endless wars.

Liberty Organizations Overtake CPAC 2010

I had intended on writing a recap of my experience at this years Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), however, I believe this video sums up my thoughts and emotions quite well.

Re: Cloture Vote on Obamacare

I'm up late watching CNN's surprisingly critical coverage of the party-line passage of the cloture bill on debate regarding the "health reform," bill in the Senate. I think their ire may be coming for all the wrong reasons, (establishmentarian David Gergen is whining about how the lack of 'bipartisanship' in the "historic" bill defiles the nation state he worships) though I appreciate it nonetheless.

But what irritated me most tonight was watching  pro-war Democreep Senators lecture those opposed to the bill about "human rights," and doing things "on principle," regardless of undesirable consequences.  Harry Reid claimed that his conscience is too strong to "look away," when people die from their lack of health care, but he certainly managed to do so when he voted for Bush's war of aggression on Iraq and the resultant mass murder of innocents. You make me sick, Harry -- and your awful "health reform" hasn't even been implemented yet!

By the way, isn't it sleazy how the Dems are trying to ram through this incredibly expensive bill through over the Holiday Season, with the final version perhaps coming on Christmas Eve? This is politics as usual, not change.

Ron Paul on Larry King Tonight!

Tune into Larry King on CNN tonight at 9 pm ET for a health care reform debate. Ron Paul will be squaring off against the congressman with what seems to have dozens of marbles jammed in his mouth, the loveable Barney Frank.

This should be a wonderful show.

Drinking age of 21 doesn't work

imageThere was a great opinion piece about the absurdities of the drinking age on CNN today by John M. Cardell.   Over the summer, I met a Danish fellow who said that dangerous college binge drinking is entirely unheard of in Denmark.  Their secret?  The drinking age is 15.  There, the phenomenon of rebellious drinking dies at age 14-16, while they are still in care of their parents.  By the time they're living on their own, drinking is seen as a lubricant for social settings at most.  This friend of mine even went so far as to cite the popularity of drugs in America as a side effect of our ridiculous drug laws, which make illegal drugs just as easily obtainable as alcohol for most people under 21.   It really makes me wonder if "adults" will ever look at us "reckless youth" and realize that freedom and responsibility flow in both directions.

Rand and Ron Interviewed Together

While it may be difficult to stomach the necessary GOP pandering to earn a senate seat, it's very exciting to see a kind, gentle non-parasite like Rand Paul interviewed on CNN. Though the questioning here may be dumbed down, at least CNN was polite.
