Bill Kristol Champions Obama's Libya Speech

And commends the President for joining the [rotten] "American foreign policy mainstream."

Writes the plumb line neocon,

The President was unapologetic, freedom-agenda-embracing, and didn't shrink from defending the use of force or from appealing to American values and interests. Furthermore, the president seems to understand we have to win in Libya. I think we will.

Top Cheney Aide Opposes Rand Paul, Says He's "Not one of us on the Global War on Terror."

The aide, Cesar Conda, is forwarding his concerns to Liz Cheney, Bill Kristol, and other "nation security conservatives." Reports The Politico:

Senior Republicans in Kentucky and Washington D.C. are deeply concerned about Senate candidate Trey Grayson’s campaign as he struggles to narrow the gap against GOP primary rival Rand Paul.

Two months before the election, the libertarian-leaning Paul, son of the Texas congressman and quixotic presidential contender, has tapped into anti-Washington grass-roots fervor on the right and staked out an advantage over Grayson, Kentucky’s secretary of state and establishment favorite....

Recognizing the threat, a well-connected former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney convened a conference call last week between Grayson and a group of leading national security conservatives to sound the alarm about Paul.

Hear Ye Bill Kristol

You demonized Ron Paul's straw poll win at CPAC, and I am A-Okay with that because I support free speech, unlike you. While your motive was probably more political than anything (Because Dr. Paul is an actual conservative on fiscal issues, foreign policy, and civil liberties; a principled position that is a direct threat to your pragmatic, spineless neoconservative ideology that you so vehemently defend), you also sought to discredit the youth movement. And I have a huge problem with that.

Let me ask you this, Bill:

Who are the biggest advocates of Social Security and Medicare?

Who passed the biggest Medicare expansion since it was created?

Who is fighting tooth and nail to pass socialized medicine, affectionately named America's Affodable Health Choices Act of 2009?

Who steered us into the two most disastrous wars since Vietnam?

Would Our Government Really Start a War to Try to Stimulate the Economy?

Yes, yes it absolutely would.

Military Keynesianism is not a bugbear made up by libertarians -- in fact, it is widely hailed as a good idea by the likes of Bill Kristol and Reagan advisor/Harvard professor Martin Feldstein.  Chalmers Johnson, the author of the Ron Paul-recommended book Blowback, writes on the subject:

This is military Keynesianism — the determination to maintain a permanent war economy and to treat military output as an ordinary economic product, even though it makes no contribution to either production or consumption. This ideology goes back to the first years of the cold war.

It's a very clever plan, for "Militarism is the one great glamorous public-works project upon which a variety of elements in the community can be brought into agreement."  Conservatives who would never support welfare spending on the poor will happily countenance pouring billions -- even trillions -- into militarism.  The left may object a little at first, but the right spokesman will bring them into line.  And hey, it will stimulate the economy to boot!  (Wrong)
