YAL members crash Las Vegas Obama rally

On Friday, Oct. 22, President Obama spoke at Orr Middle School Park in Las Vegas as part of his Moving America Forward rally series. Despite predictions of twenty thousand attendees, fewer than ten thousand people were in attendance to hear Obama read tired partisan talking points from his teleprompter.

Members of Young Americans for Liberty were on hand to make sure that dissenting voices were heard, and distributed an agenda for the event that offered a more critical perspective on the president's big government, anti-market, anti-private property policies.

YAL member Mike Sciullo's satirical Uncle Sam character drew a lot of attention from attendees and media as he encouraged people to keep paying tax after tax, reminding the Obama supporters in attendance that they believe that government knows how to spend their money better than they do.

Members of the new University of Nevada, Las Vegas chapter of Young Americans for Liberty were out on Monday as part of YAF's "No More Che Day" event to raise awareness about Che Guevara's real work as enthusiastic executioner and poster boy for the Castro regime. Lots of students stopped by to learn about the real Che and about YAL's work for individual liberty, free markets, and smaller government.

UNLV Diverts Stimulus Funds to Butt-Out Civil Liberties

In the nearly two years since Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the stimulus bill) at the urging of President Obama, we have seen an abundance of criticism aimed not only at the bill itself but at the overall economic policies that this administration has set forth. Even after numerous multi-billion dollar injections from the central planners in Washington, the country remains at an economic standstill with faces record deficits and double digit unemployment that has not been experienced since the Great Depression. What was marketed and sold to hardworking Americans as a promise to grow the economy has instead delivered only a more cumbersome government that has both the ability and the tendency to intrude into every facet of the private lives of each and every individual.

These instances of government intervention in the marketplace and in the economy of the United States of America, such as those funded through the 2009 stimulus bill, only illuminate that, all manipulation aside, government never delivers what it promises. Rather it is this very intervention that generates a barrage of unforeseen consequences which we are then told requires even more government intervention to fix.
