I have a very large smile on my face as I write this blog. I am so grateful and proud of our YAL chapter here at CSUF. We are becoming more and more active in our communities in more ways than one. We spent this entire weekend out and about interacting with different groups of people that come from many walks of life.

We started bright and early Saturday morning when we returned to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen in Santa Ana. We spent many hours playing whiffle ball and soccer with the small children while their parents recieved donated food and household items. We taught bigger children to play nicer with the smaller children, and I'm not gonna lie, I even taught a bigger kid how to be better at checkers by easily owning him twice! We love going to this event, and we did it again in coordination with our campus' Volunteer and Service Center. This again gave us the opportunity to talk to our peers about our club. As we left the soup kitchen, you could see in the kid's eyes that they were sad to see us go, so we knew that we were doing positive things in our community.

Sunday we participated in community, but in a slightly different way. Our chapter of YAL knows the importance of balance, the balance between work and fun. We set up a trip to Disneyland, which is right down the street from our campus, and we invited members of nearby chapters to join us. We coordinated with members of our chapter and friends of the chapter who work at Disneyland, and managed to get everyone in who did not have a season pass for free. By doing this, we saved our friends over $1,000.00 total.
