This past Wednesday, students interested in founding Marist College's chapter of Young Americans for Liberty hosted a tabling event across from the Dining Hall. Already recognized at YAL's nationwide level, there needs to be interest shown by students at Marist College for the chapter to achieve official club status, opening the chapter up to school funding, allocations, and the ability to reserve meeting space. Hosted for two hours by a dedicated staff committed to the principles of freedom, over twenty people showed interest in the club, bringing the total of students interested in a Marist chapter of YAL to thirty-five (35). This number will continue to grow as YAL is seen as a space for open debate, thought, and civility, which is lacking in our school's respective Democrat and Republican Clubs, evidenced in their last debate. The creation of a club constitution and bylaws are underway, and it is only a matter of time before YAL is recognized on campus.
