Cities across Northern/Northwest Washington State are considering adding red light cameras to their intersections in the spirit of "making our roads safer." Realistically, it is more of an attempt to raise funds for the cities than it is to prevent reckless driving.
Making banning local red light cameras a large focus, the YAL chapter at Whatcom Community College (Bellingham, WA) has been at the forefront of the "Ban Cams" movement. Recently the chapter president, Johnny Weaver, was interviewed by Seattle's KING 5 News. (If you're impatient, Johnny's interview begins at the 1:18 mark)
