It's not stuff like these lame sauce photos that's keeping the GOP from getting the youth vote (yes yours is a nit-picky post). ;)  Conservatives are losing because they're not portraying themselves as idealistically as necessary to excite the hearts of young voters.

Obama Dupes the Idealistic Youth

Obama was clearly one big PR package who made young people feel good about themselves and America. Sadly, he's also a Fabian Marxist. But what do the youth know about Marxism? Nothing! Most have never learned the truth about Marxism or been exposed to the principles of Freedom and good government. They are an American Idol generation compromised with Socialist programming through a socialized education system. They also don't own much private property and so they tend towards feel-good Collectivist ideals espoused by the likes of Obama.

The political technique that really works with youth voters is how a candidate makes them [feel].  This isn't a cut-down, it's just a reality. It wasn't until I was in my mid-thirties that I began to discover the formula of the Founders. It takes time and effort to uncover and live by the truth.

So with this reality in mind, don't expect the youth to be advanced politically. You must pull on their heartstrings, plain and simple, until they're older and can discern political issues better.

The Conservatives are Conflicted and Therefore Weak

This brings me to my main point about Conservatives re-capturing the youth. Conservatives/Republicans cannot espouse the principles of freedom that will fire up the young voter unless they are living them. Truth spoken from the bully pulpit will resonate within the spirits of all people, the young included. They will feel it and it will make it much easier to quash the Marxist philosophy of the Statists when contrasted with truth.

But you have to know what truth is. The fact is, the Conservative/Republican line has become a mish-mash of truth and falsehoods. Take for instance, Conservatives rail against Obamacare as "socialized medicine" yet support Johnsoncare (Medicare) to the death. It is a fact that without Republican support, this socialist entitlement wouldn't exist. It is Conservatives' compromising their principles which enables the nanny state to progress according to the whims of Statists.

What's the point? It's impossible for a party or movement to stand on the side of principle when they are full of moral, political contradictions. If the "right" will root out these moral contradictions (and the politicians who implement them) they will get back on the footing of righteousness. That way they can simply rely on God to prosper them in persuading the youth to side with eternal principles, not man-made ones.

Some Suggestions for Swinging the Youth Vote

1-Conservatives must get back on the side of right (of God) and stop compromising their principles. Essentially they must live lives of virtue, shunning Socialism completely, and become constitutional purists who have a Liberty or Death view on the proper role of government. They must not compromise their principles, no matter what!

2- Drop the title of "Conservative" and replace it with "American" or "Freeman/Freewoman." Conservativism has such a storied and sad past. We need to return to labels that actually mean something.

3-Hire/develop public speakers who can speak with intellegence and passion that make Obama look like an amateur. Speaking far less from teleprompters and more from the heart. We need orators that can espouse the truths of God so effectively that no Statist will be able to obfuscate the truth. Essentially, we need a large cadre of public speakers and politicians who speak at least as well Ronald Reagan.

And Finally...

So that's how you swing the youth vote. The youth may not have the sophistication of experience or own much property. But they have a spirit given them by God. Through the spirit they can recognize and feel the truth. We must teach them how to recognize the contradictions of the sophists and become better at communicating the message. And if we get our houses in order, live virtuously, and return to the proper role of government, the youth will undoubtedly recognize what side they must be on - the side of truth.
