Privatized Military Corp. Blackwater Targets War in Somalia

With billions of tax dollars from government contracts in the pockets of Blackwater owner Erik Prince, the private military corporation is now establishing a foothold in none other than Somalia in its efforts to wage war against what Prince regards as Islamic radicalism. While the New York Times reported that he now has a home in the United Arab Emirates, Blackwater is in the midst of supporting a mercenary firm attempting to intervene in Somalia's civil war.

Although Prince's intentions are to keep the world safe from Islamic radicalism, Blackwater's intervention in Somalia can only lead to disaster, considering that the engagements are further dividing Islamic and Christian societies rather than seeking ways to have them coexist in peace.

With war comes collateral damage; with collateral damage comes the tool to recruit more insurgents and fighters. In no way does Blackwater's plan solve the issue at hand, considering that any Muslim who draws a weapon is immediately considered a radical for defending his home after an attack. The idea that perpetual war breeds peace is a fallacy.

In no fashion can "radical Islam" be completely wiped off the face of the map anymore than one can actually identify what a radical Muslim is. Profiteering off the misery of a country by diseasing it with war is dangerous to the well-being of any international or regional society.

The litmus test for determining the enemy rests entirely in the hands of a private corporation armed with not just weapons, but political clout, as it parasitically leeches off government bureaucracies through contracts designed to keep flags out of battlefields and mercenaries in.

While Blackwater seems dangerous -- a private military corporation running amok with no laws or ruled to bind it from annihilating anything it deems as an enemy -- the United States government is the sole conspirator behind its potential. Even more dangerous, this "private" military corporation cannot be considered a byproduct of the privatized market when government contracts determine the corporation's pay.

Billions of dollars rushed into the pockets of Erik Prince and his company from the State Department during the height of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The short-term benefit from hiring mercenaries was the removal of an American flag on any battlefield mishap while the longterm effects are now proving, as expected, dangerous in the realm of realpolitik. Somalia may just be the testing ground for larger battlefields to come in the future.

I for one am glad a blackwater exists today and they are not fighting islamic folks because they chose  to  they just happen to be  very good at it.   It's all performance based and they and their contractors can perform!  I don't have any problems with it also because my relitive led the infantry for The french in the battle of the pyramids in egypt and was a contracted hessian  many years this has been going on !  Saving lives through force is an unfortunate reality not hate based! Some one has to benefit at the top why not Mr. Prince he has sacrificed his life for mine by being special forces and why not say Thanks Mr. Prince
