If we are going to go with the alcoholic analogy, let's define what this "alcohol" really is--taxpayer-funded excess. Some pseudo-cons may say "let the free market reign!" just to gain funds for their PACs; others, just to stall for time to put more pork into their "opponents" bills. If you want to reform a drunk, you don't put him in charge of a warehouse full of alcoholic beverages; you distribute his photo to bartenders and tell them not to serve him. In other words, I think it's time for some serious talk about term limits for congressmen, especially senators. Having men at the public trough for their entire adult lives is at best dangerous, most likely the entire reason that we have such a plutocracy today. It's time to have some serious interventions with our drunk asses and elephants.
