Daniel Hannan, a self-described "backbench" Member of the European Parliament representing Southeast England has overnight been catapulted into the public eye through the magic of the Internet.
His short speech, in response to a load of self-aggrandizing drivel from the disgusting Gordon Brown, has today become the most watched video on the British YouTube, and accumulated over 150,000 views in less than 24 hours. This in spite of a completely apathetic mainstream press. Take a look for yourself, or read about it on Hannan's blog:
Hannan's message is concise, clear and completely rational. He says what every one of us in the United States and in Britain is thinking at this moment of economic uncertainty. His response to Gordon Brown's suggestion that England can simply spend its way out of recession is dead simple:
And that's just what it is. Nonsense economics. Anyone can see that running money off a printing press is not going to solve our economic woes. But having the courage, and the opportunity, to deliver those damning words to one's head of state is an entirely different matter. If only President Obama would present himself for a similar justly deserved tongue-lashing. So here's to Daniel Hannan, a champion of liberty. You know, and we know, and you know that we know that it's nonsense!

Nigel Farage is better.
He said he would have voted for Ron Paul if he were a citizen here on Cavuto today :)
Purely legit.
Tom and Nathan have it absolutely right. Where is our Daniel Hannan?
Oh, Those Crazy European Socialists...
We Americans have long been proud of our very American ability to cast a sneer at Europe and say, "Socialism's momma is so stupid, it took her two hours to watch 60 Minutes." We have told ourselves, with good reason,......
This man is amazing, he should be our European rep!!
Tuc, that was a fantastic interview! He reveals exactly my sentiment with the election. Sure we didn't want Obama because he was no better than Bush or McCain but because he had the potential to revitalize the Republican party around their core principles and prevent further ignorance and decline then he was a better choice. Destruction laying the way for reconstruction in other words. Now look what we have. Fox News is now preaching what they should have been a long time ago instead of going along with Bush policy to the bitter end (well some of them). We have shows like Cavuto, Beck, and even Fox Business News who are waking people up to our ideas or rather some of the core ideas of the Republican party. We have a resistance movement that isn't completely on the backs of RP supporters but Republicans and Independence alike. We even have Democrats waking up to the similarities between their candidate and Bush in his foreign policy and his disdain for human rights to include restrictions on indentured servitude and torture abroad.
We must capitalize on this opportunity to educate more people. I sat and debated for a couple hours with a Democrat who voted for Obama and we made significant ground in the way of understanding the two major parties as one and how government intervention never solved anything but often reiterated Constitutional principles or left room for problems down the road. He was very open to everything I had to say. A small crowd gathered around us at times in our campus square, people listening in on issues from the current economic woes, the depression, even the civil rights movement (Not everyday you see minorities argue over these issues being unjust and having unforeseen consequences for the future). I feel empowered by the education that this movement has given to me through our fellowship. We must replicate these experiences and ideas everywhere we can. Bringing our ideas to the forefront of the American psyche is critical, now more than ever. We have leaders talking about a world currency for Pete's sake! How far we have strayed from sensibility and common sense.
He said he would vote for Ron Paul
