Is President Obama about to surrender your 2nd Amendment Rights to the U.N.?

For months, I've seen blog and forum posts insisting that President Obama and his cronies are determined to take guns and ammunition away from this country's citizens.  Most of these posts are located on conspiratorial type websites that typically serve as good entertainment but lack a certain aura of credibility.  Today though, I stumbled over an editorial published in the Washington Times.

This week, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult -- if not outright illegal -- for law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. A quick Google News search has yielded no fresh stories about any such actual administrative announcement.  Does the Times have it wrong, or is there actual interest from the Obama White House in signing such a treaty (and keeping the lid on it as long as possible)?  Note: Any such treaty agreement would need to be voted on and passed by 67 members of the Senate before becoming 'official'.

I'm still not convinced that the Obama Administration has actually voiced support for this treaty, as I've not seen evidence that backs up the Times editorial.  Even if it did, I highly doubt Obama/Clinton et al could manage to scrounge up even half of the votes necessary.

The UN operates on a slow schedule and therefore we have time to mobilize opposition to this.  But if we don't start now they could push it through.
