After the death of 8 CIA officials during Wednesday's bombing in Afghanistan, a U.S. intelligence official has said that the deaths will be avenged: "This attack will be avenged through successful, aggressive counterterrorism operations."

According to former CIA official Robert Richer, this has been "the greatest loss of life for the Central Intelligence Agency since the Beirut Embassy bombing" in 1983, which also included the deaths of 8 CIA officials.

The suicide  bomber walked into a gym facility and and blew himself  up using a  suicide vest.  The Taliban claims to have taken responsibility.  What the proposed vengeance will look like remains to be seen.
