Things like this make me ashamed to be a registered member of the Republican Party. I registered Republican with the belief that one day the party will once again accept it's libertarian foundations and throw it's support behind Ron Paul and other libertarian-minds. But, things like this make me feel that maybe this is just a bunch of wishful thinking...
Orrrrrr other Republicans could step it up and actually pretend they know how to organize rather than just complain. If that can't even get supporters out to win straw polls, how are they going to win an actual election? One of our senate candidates put it well when he said last night that the GOP can't just bank on tea parties/anger/health care and they can't just bank on not being democrats otherwise nothing will change. Principled differences MUST come out and the party needs to be smart. If Republicans sweep and nothing changes (again), it's going to destroy them.
I don't think the Party will stop doing Straw Polls if Paul keeps winning.
This commentator further shows his level of intelligence by extolling the virtues of the 17th Amendment and the direct election of U.S. Senators, so consider the source. :)
seriously, the 17th amendment has distorted the state and federal balance. Its rocked the republic. Either way, we'll take it one day at a time and continue to promote OUR ideas. Sound money, Non-interventionist foreign policy, individual liberty and constitutional government.
