French Health Care Facing Cost Problems

We're not the only one facing growing health care costs. France's single-payer system has solvency troubles of its own:

The problem is that Assurance Maladie has been in the red since 1989. This year the annual shortfall is expected to reach €9.4 billion ($13.5 billion), and €15 billion in 2010, or roughly 10% of its budget.

Even if single-payer or other forms of government-run health care are better than free-market health care, it still wouldn't make sense to initiate such a costly (and insolvent) program when our deficit is $1.3 trillion.

you are right, it wouldnt make sense to initiate a costly health care program even if it is better because our deficit is $1.3 trillion. everybody knows our deficit is far more important than human life. it is much more important to fix the deficit than it is to fix the sick, cure people who are suffering and stop people from dying!!!

seriously, how do you sleep at night!?

France has to face a lot of problems and unfortunately the health care costs increased so much that it became unstoppable. When I was making a teleradiology treatment I met a woman that lived in France for a couple of years, she was shocked that her country has to pay for others countries mistakes and its citizen suffer the most.
