This is something out of a playbook that I don't want to see: The Empire State Building in New York City will honor the 60th Anniversary of communist China by lighting up the building with the red and yellow colors.
From the AP:
New York's iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China.
The Chinese consul, Peng Keyu, and other officials will take part in the lighting ceremony which will bathe the skyscraper in the colors of the People's Republic until Thursday, Empire State Building representatives said in a statement.
So when did we start honoring countries that spit in the face of liberty? Well, we do it all the time, but illuminating one of the tallest buildings in a city that screams American freedom is just a disgrace.
This is what our country has come to??

:O disgusting!@
I'd argue we honor a state which "spit[s] in the face of liberty" every time we honor the American government.
You should all get used to it; we're going to be seeing a lot more red and yellow when they finally ask us to pay back all that debt. Hell, this could even even be the reason why they're doing it, to make nice with the Chinese so they don't calll back all their loans.
China is far more capitalistic than the US, and at least they are honest in describing their form of government. We could not be further from a representative republic, and who knows, like an earlier comment said, when the bill is due, they may take over anyhow.
China is getting bigger as the empire state is in front of the other buildings. We will definetily be holding hands with them because they are a very big consumer of our goods and we use a lot of their manufacturing work. It's the way the state respects other countries. We should not be alarmed with this.

Really? I was under the impression that the United States hates communism. In fact, we've fought wars over that exact issue. Is this some kind of public relations stunt? I'm not supporting this decision.
