Our Documentarian Ashlee Casper got in touch with Community Gardens in Troy to set up a charity event for us to volunteer. We got up at 5 a.m. to go help them strip their new building for remodeling!

We punched out ceiling panels and pulled down insulation.

This event was a reminder that there are people out there who do charitable things voluntarily, and that government assistance is not the way to help those in need as it only keeps those people down. Private charity is a movement to help those in need without forcing it to come out of the wallets of those who cannot afford it.

Glad to see there's a YAL chapter at SUNY Albany. Great work, guys!

This is cool. Have you heard of Gabriel of Urantia? He's a spiritual activist and founder of Global Community Communications Alliance, which ministers to many with youth rehabilitation programs, garden internships, and they live in an ecovillage. It comes to mind because I am thinking of innovative and creative folk who are creating jobs and service opportunities for people. What they've accomplished is quite impressive and everyone who forms part is a full time volunteer. Definitely check them out: http://gccalliance.org/resume/ I think you will appreciate what you find.
