ABOUT

IHS is rooted in the classical liberal intellectual tradition, which recognizes that humans are uniquely capable of right and wrong and therefore require freedom of thought and action in order to thrive.

Inalienable individual rights are the cornerstone of this tradition; people are to be left free to conduct their own lives, individually and through voluntary cooperation, so long as they do not interfere with the rights of others.

Certain institutions are key to protecting these individual rights in a free society: free markets and free trade, a free press, separation of church and state, private property and contract, and the rule of law.

In the classical liberal view, a free society holds the greatest potential for prosperity, peace, and the flourishing of individuals and communities.
