Nacogdoches Empty Stocking Fund Choose Charity event
Over the next few weeks we are going to be supporting the efforts of the Empty Stocking Fund, raising money so that children can have at least one present under the tree this Christmas. In a free society, community assumes an importance that it does not have in a heavily regulated, bureaucratic, and ultimately sterile/cold one. In addition, liberty means that individuals choose whom to give their treasure and support. In recognition of this we will be giving them our support. Here are the details:
This year’s Empty Stocking Fund Drive will be held on November 29th, 30th, and December 1st in the Wal-Mart parking lot beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday and ending at 6p.m. on Saturday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day except Sunday). We will be packing toys and arranging them for pick-up the week of December 3rd & 10th. Our first distribution of toys is on Friday, December 7th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 8th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The last distribution will be Friday, December 14th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Help make a smile happen this Christmas!
Basically we will just meet there, wearing YAL or other 'liberty'-minded t-shirts, pick up donation buckets, and try to get people to donate. They will even take pictures for us, to be published in the paper, so this is a really good deal for us to be involved in. I'd like to organize a time where most/all of us can be there for that, and times for each of us to help when we have spare time.
