Full-time college students are invited to apply for Young America's Foundation's Road to Freedom Seminar, scheduled at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California, October 15 to 17, 2009.

President Ronald Reagan was influenced by free market philosophers, including Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman, Frank Meyer, Ludwig von Mises, Henry Hazlitt, and Russell Kirk, who guided his economic policy which led to less government interference in the market place and more freedom for the average American during his administration.

Confirmed faculty include: radio host and  teacher Kirby Wilbur, Hillsdale College Wallace and Marion Reemelin Chair in Free-Market Economics Ivan Pongracic , and President of the Foundation for Economic Education Larry Reed

Today, the free market approach has been cast aside. The mainstream media, college professors, and the Obama administration all advocate John Maynard Keynes'or Karl Marx's solution of using government spending to boost the economy. Students are rarely required to read or are even presented with a fair view of free market ideas.

As a result young people are skeptical of free enterprise. A Rasmussen survey showed that 33% of young people today prefer socialism over capitalism, and 30% are undecided!

At this Young America's Foundation program, participants will:

  • Compare the policies practiced and lessons learned by the Carter, Reagan, Bush and Obama   administrations.
  • Explore the economists who most influenced Ronald Reagan.
  •  Learn concrete strategies to communicate free market values to students on campus.
  •  And more!

One past seminar attendee wrote,

“I would definitely encourage anyone who wants to learn more about free market ideas, liberty, and Reagan's ideals to attend these seminars. They are enlightening and a definite must for young conservatives.”

A highlight of the weekend will be a trip to Rancho del Cielo, Ronald Reagan's beloved ranch and home for nearly 25 years. It was at the Ranch that President Reagan inaugurated the longest peace-time economic expansion by signing the largest tax cuts in American history into law. Young America's Foundation is preserving his ranch so new generations can learn more about President Reagan's ideas and lasting accomplishments.

The cost of this exciting weekend is only $45 and includes overnight accommodations for Thursday and Friday nights, meals, and conference materials. Space is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sign up today by calling Ana Lightle at 888-USA-1776 or contact Ana via email at alightle@reaganranch.org.
