Interview Requests?

Due to some technical difficulties at my university, the Tom Palmer interview's audio quality is seriously inadequate, so I'll have to merely transcribe it when I have a chance. This is a disappointing because it was a very interesting exchange, but I'm sure we'll be able to hear his thoughts sometime in the future. (he was very cordial and pro-YAL)

This Saturday I'll be interviewing Stephan Kinsella about libertarian legal theory and all audio issues should be worked out by then. There is also a very high profile academic I'll be talking to Oct 13th, but while I previously dropped his name on this blog, I want it to remain a surprise for anyone who hasn't seen it.

All that said, do you guys have any requests? I can't make any guarantees, but hopefully I'll be able to get an interview for YAL with the guy or gal you want to hear from.

Are you a lonely Wisconsinite?

Are you a Wisconsin resident looking for a YAL chapter to join?  Good news; there are active chapters around the state and I have been planting lots of seeds today to help bring more freedom fighters together!  If you live anywhere in Wisconsin, join the statewide coalition.  If you are near any of the following campuses, join its Facebook hub.  Many of these are newly forming seeds* just planted today.

Ron Paul on the Daily Show

Do you wonder why our government has gotten so big? The answer could be because of spending coming out of Washington, but the real answer lies with the Federal Reserve System. They have the capability of manipulating the free market and financing the government to no end.

Here is Ron Paul's interview on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show:

It is time to start listening to this man. He knows what he is talking about, and is currently the only person in Washington that can restore our Liberties.

Glenn Greenwald sticks it to Arianna Huffington and co.

Good for Glenn Greenwald to stand his ground against this cosmopolitan "progressive," on MSNBC yesterday. (while the pro-war network played scary images in the background)

Arianna Huffington has posted some good material on her blog in the past, but it's absolutely ridiculous to see her revert to this stick-waving now that her guy is in office. I wonder if she supports murderous sanctions on Iran just because the "international community," agrees?

Are you a racist? (Quick, Find out!)

In the minds of many, the definition of racism has changed from a belief that "one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others." Indeed, in this age of blue state fascism, a rejection of "racialism" and general bigotry is no longer  sufficient to be safe from the highly politicized charge.

In order to "re-educate" you guys about the "new" racism, I've provided the below guide on what it is and how to avoid it:

Report from Pittsburgh: "State Terrorism"

Writes YAL blog reade Troy Heagy:

I am a resident in Pittsburgh and work at the University of Pittsburgh.  I was not a protester during G-20, but living and working in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh, I happened to be caught in what amounted to riot police assaulting the entire Oakland area indiscriminately with pepper gas, LRAD, rubber bullets and billy clubs.   I wasn't sure if you were aware of the situation, but I wanted to let as many people know what happened here in Pittsburgh as I can...

I very strongly feel that Oakland was a victim of malicious and un-checked State Terrorism over the course of the last few days and the world needs to know about what happened here...

Heagy provides links to:

  • An entire site devoted to chronicling police brutality at the G20 summit.
  • A video where armed police take over a college dorm.  As the policeman puts it: "It's almost like if the government came in and declared martial law...but it's not."  Right, because we can't even be bothered with such pitiful formalities.
  • And two local stories covering the protests.

Empire State Building to Honor the 60th Anniversary of Communist China

This is something out of a playbook that I don't want to see:  The Empire State Building in New York City will honor the 60th Anniversary of communist China by lighting up the building with the red and yellow colors.

From the AP:

New York's iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China.

The Chinese consul, Peng Keyu, and other officials will take part in the lighting ceremony which will bathe the skyscraper in the colors of the People's Republic until Thursday, Empire State Building representatives said in a statement.

So when did we start honoring countries that spit in the face of liberty?  Well, we do it all the time, but illuminating one of the tallest buildings in a city that screams American freedom is just a disgrace.

This is what our country has come to??
