Author of Ron Paul hit piece exposed?

Ugh... Another day, another ugly smear against the Ron Paul/liberty movement, this time courtesy of Dana Goldstein, writing for "The Daily Beast."

The clear point of Ms. Goldstein's piece is that Paul movement is tainted by the "fringy" racism and general nuttiness of a few of our "associations." How ironic that point becomes when one looks at what she wrote about the Rev. Wright situation. Though Goldstein thinks it's fair to associate Ron Paul (and his whole movement) with the ideas of a few "birthers" he unknowingly meets in a C4L event, only a "racially-tinged," promoter of "lies" would have considered President Obama and his campaign "un-American," in response to the Rev. Wright "scandal."

57% of Americans Would Like to Replace the Entire Congress

I'd personally let Ron Paul stay, but that's an impressive statistic.  Of the remaining 43%, only 25% are actually sure they'd keep them.  Maybe we have cause for hope?  ...if they get just as fed up with the rest of the government, that is.

Introducing LOLA...

LOLA

LOLA, Ladies of Liberty Alliance, is an up and coming women's organization that aims to educate, mobilize, and train libertarian women within the movement.  We are hoping to create an environment for women to learn and gain confidence to fight for what they believe in.

This September 1st the ladies will be holding a "calendar bomb" similar to fundraising bombs in the recent and past.  For a $20 donation you will receive a 16 month calendar debuting some of the top women activists in the liberty movement.  The calendar will be the initial fundraiser to gain resources needed to begin LOLA's mission.  Please visit the LOLA social networking site to purchase your calendar!

The actual unveiling of the calendar will take place at the Northeast Regional Campaign for Liberty Conference in Valley Forge, PA.

Please support LOLA and their desire to bring more women into the movement!

Anti-war protests planned for this Fall

Good for those members of Code Pink who refuse to back down from their principles, and are readying anti-war protests for this Fall. I especially admire Cindy Sheehan, whom some "peacenik" leftists have labeled an "attention whore" for refusing to only oppose wars executed by "untrendy" presidents.

She certainly lives by Mises' motto, and despite our differences, her courage is to be admired.

Are the American People catching on?

We live in an interesting political climate, with Americans still disgusted by memories of the Bush Administration but quickly realizing the O-bomb-ya administration represents little in the way of "change." Accordingly, 38% of Americans favor neither the Democrats or the Republicans in the 2010 elections. Does anyone else sense that the establishment duopoly of pro-warfare/welfare state Republicans and pro-welfare/warfare Democrats is finally starting to deteriorate?

Students from Georgia and South Carolina!

Did you know that there are only a total of 4 college YAL chapters in the great states of Georgia and South Carolina?

If you go to college in either of these states and want to start a YAL chapter on your campus, let me know. I work for the Leadership Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that helps recruit and train effective libertarian and conservative college activists. We can give you the help you need to start one.

You can email me at kmoen@campusreform.org.

College kids recruited to join Obama's 'army'

The president will soon offer you college credit to advance his political agenda by taking an organizing internship with Organizing for America, the Obama campaign's equivalent of Campaign for Liberty

It's definitely concerning, for those who didn't catch the sarcasm above, to have a framework like this in place with laws like the Serve America Act also in place, ready to offer volunteer opportunities to the million who will be strongly encouraged -- if not yet required -- to volunteer for their country.  But surely they mean well, right?

In March, when volunteers canvassed high-traffic locations in Birmingham, Ala., to support Obama's health care, education and energy policies, one event organizer told the Birmingham News, "We are looking for supporters. We're not looking for a fight. That will come later, when we have an army."
